for September

LAS VEGAS  Some of the smaller and/or out-of-the-way casinos offer good single and double-deck blackjack games for low to moderate bettors. If these are the kinds of games you like, here's a list of places to check out. Note that these casinos do not always offer the best rule options, but because of the generally deep penetration, they are excellent opportunities for card counters: Arizona Charlie's (two decks); Boulder Station (one and two decks); Casino Royale (two decks); Continental (two decks); Fiesta (one deck); Sam's Town (one deck); Santa Fe (two decks).

RENO  For a few of the smaller area casinos with pretty good hand-held games for low to moderate stakes try: the Alamo, in Sparks (one deck); CalNeva (one deck); Bonanza (one deck); Western Village, in Sparks (one deck).

ATLANTIC CITY The Hilton continues to offer the deepest penetration available. Mostly eight-deck, with one deck cuts. If you can afford to play at some of the higher limit tables ($25 to $100 minimums) you may find some decent six-deck games (75 percent dealt) at: Claridge and Trump Marina.

MIDWEST  The Majestic Star in Gary, Ind., has some of the best six-deckers in the Midwest, mostly dealing out five of the six decks. Unfortunately, they've got $25 minimums on all their six-deckers.

SOUTH Looking for good two-deck games in Mississippi? Try Casino Magic in Biloxi; Grand Casino in Tunica; and the Las Vegas Casino in Greenville.

WEST The Spirit Mountain Casino in Grande Ronde, Ore., is dealing out about five out of six decks on all tables. Doubles after splits.

Because game conditions can change at any time, and as there is always a time lag between the reports we receive and the publication date, this information may not be accurate.
